Public service quality should be improved continuously, even in this COVID-19 pandemic situation

Jakarta Government was declared to provide excellent public services to citizens based on results of monitoring and evaluation of public service performance at regional governments of 33 provinces and 221 districts/cities throughout Indonesia.

Jakarta PMPTSP Agency Head, Benni Agency was grateful for receiving award from PAN-RB Ministry as Public Service provider Unit for Excellent Service Category with A score.

"Thank God, this achievement is a clear proof that all employees at Agency, city/regency, sub-district, and urban village levels are committed in realizing excellent public services in Jakarta," he said, Friday (3/12).

He explained, regional apparatuses of government affairs in investment and licensing/non-licensing service sectors in Jakarta will continue to improve public service quality.

"Public service quality should be improved continuously, even in this COVID-19 pandemic situation," he asserted.

According to him, COVID-19 pandemic has presented its own challenges in providing public services in Indonesia, including in Jakarta.

"Every public service provider units are required to ensure people to access excellent public services in comfortable and safe manner," he added.

He stated that Law (UU) No. 25/2009 concerning Public Service stated the excellent public service is a basic need and civil rights of every citizens.

PMPTSP Agency continues to facilitate people to access licensing/non-licensing services, especially in the midst of pandemic, such as by utilizing technology and innovation, namely licensing shuttle service with motorcycle (AJIB).

"In order to stop COVID-19 transmission, we optimize online licensing system where applicants no longer need to come to Public Service Mall or 316 PMPTSP unit service points. Jakarta residents can apply for licensing and non-licensing using JakEVO app or AJIB service," he mentioned.

Although all licensing/non-licensing can be submitted online or 100% online, he realized that not all people have good digital literacy skills.

Thus PMPTSP Agency develops AJIB service to take care of licensing/non-licensing documents, start from application process to the issuance of licensing/non-licensing or end-to-end process that can be carried out from home or office while implementing strict health protocols to prevent COVID-19 transmission.

"AJIB service innovation is developed as response from Jakarta Government to provide solutions to existing problems which are urgently needed by Jakarta residents during COVID-19 pandemic," he said.

PAN-RB Minister, Tjahjo Kumolo expressed his appreciation to local government that won the highest award in public service sector.

He expects this achievement can be maintained in prioritizing excellent service to the community.

"Excellent public service is the main point to boost regional economy and accelerate investment process. The spirit of continuous improvement should be maintained because challenges in the future will be heavier and more comprehensive. Accelerating public service improvement is one of the keys to rise from the current state," he mentioned.
